Today read the portion in Bible where Joseph was prisoned and then prospered later. I realised few things. When Joseph arrived in Egypt, how would he have felt? A teenager, having lost his mother, now seperated from his father, brothers and relatives. Bible says God was with him and he prospered in all he did.

He would have felt lonely. But all those sadness didn't seem to stop him from worshipping the true God in the land of gentiles. He could have followed gods of Egypt. As we see in Bible he ran away from sin, he wasn't tempted just once, many times. But still he chose to do what is right. Later, he was prisoned for the crime he didn't commit.

He was taken slave, now prisoned, there were lots of things which made him not to believe it have faith in God. What made Joseph so strong to withstand all hardships. He found favour with all the officers he met, even the King.

Joseph would have been taught from his childhood how Abraham was called and the promises God gave to Abraham. Jacob could have told his sons his own experiences with God. How met him when he ran away from his brother, Easy. How God was with him throughout his journey and prospered everything he did. What all the promises God promised Jacob and how he wrestled and his name was changed. Also, how Jacob was blessed while working with his uncle, Laban though his wages was changed many times.

Listening to how God blessed his parents and grandparents because of their faith, Joseph would have built his faith and trust in God. Even though he was a teenager when he was taken slave, he didn't ignore or forget what he learnt or what he saw. Parents play a more significant role in building child's character. They influence their children more than they think. Above all God's grace is necessary in all ways of life.
